Cleansing Oily Skin

October 21, 2009

People with oily skin think that the best way to treat the problem is to use a cleanser that dries up the oil. This creates more oil and damages the outer layer of skin.

Let me explain.

Cleansers that have a drying effect on your skin are actually using harsh chemicals that destroy the protective layer of oil on the skin called the acid mantle. The acid mantle is a protective force field for your face preventing the bacteria that you come into contact with on a daily basis from entering your body.

Since the body always wants to protect itself, the oil glands go into overdrive to replace the oil that has been stripped from your face. Over time this leads to more problems from the excess oil production.

So in essence the more you try to wash away the oil, the more oil your skin produces.

What your skin is really looking for is moisture to balance out the oil production.

Moisture is not OIL, of any type, moisture is water.

L’Bri Pure n’ Natural has created a cleanser for Oily Skin without chemicals. The Deep Pore Cleanser is formulated with Aloe Vera (Barbadensis Miller) as the first ingredient. The Aloe is infused with vitamins and botanicals to nourish the skin from the outside in. After using L’Bri cleanser for 7-10 days you will notice that the oil production has greatly diminished.

Figuring Out Your Acne

October 20, 2009

Most people with breakouts are just concerned about making them go away.

This would be the goal, but in order for this to happen we need to know what is causing the breakouts.

There are several different types of acne and determining which one you have will help you clear up the issue.

1. Acne Vulgaris – This is acne caused by oil. Bacteria grows rapidly in an oily environment, the bacteria then gets into the pores to create blemishes. Acne of this type only appears on your face, generally in the T zone – forehead and nose.

2. Internal Acne – Caused by diet, stress and certain types of clothing. This type of acne appears all over, mostly on the back and face. Due to the many different contributors to this type of acne, it is the most difficult to treat.

3. Retention Hyperkeratosis – Our dead skin cells are meant to flake off the skin. When they do not, the dead cells build up inside the pores where bacteria then builds up and creates breakouts. This is hereditary condition and is often more severe than Acne Vulgaris.

Now that you have determined what time of acne you have it is time to look for products that will work best for you.

____________________________________________________________

Oil caused acne is best treated by a proper cleanser. Most cleansers have harsh detergents that strip the skin of the oil. This causes the oil glands to go on alert and create more oil.

A deep pore cleanser that will calm the oil glands and clean out the pores without stripping the skin is what you need. As you begin to properly clean your skin, the oil glands will calm down and produce less oil.

After cleansing, follow with an effective toner and moisturizer to fight blemish causing bacteria naturally.
____________________________________________________________

If you have internal acne, start removing factors that could be causing this acne, one item at a time. Try to start drinking at least 6 – 8oz glasses of water per day. This will help your body remove toxins more effectively. Take a natural nutritional supplement to aid you body in removing toxins also.

Also, starting a food diary is a great idea. That way you can see if you only breakout when eating certain foods. This may take a few months to really begin to see a pattern between the food you are eating and your breakouts.
____________________________________________________________

Using a natural enzyme peel could be the answer for you if you have Retention Hyperkeratosis acne. Most exfoliating products would be too harsh for blemished skin.

The natural enzyme peel uses fruit acids to dissolve dead skin cell naturally without being abrasive to the skin. Using this 2 to 3 times per week will reduce the amount of dead skin cell build up, this will reduce the amount of blemishes you have.
_____________________________________________________________

By following these suggestions you will gain control over your breakouts. Occasionally you may still have a blemsih or two. To treat a spot before it becomes a painful blemish, try applying a natural blemish fighting cream to the spot. This is a gentle cream that is less irritating cream that can dry up a blemish before it becomes an large issue.

October 19, 2009

What would you do with an extra $5,460 after 90 days with L’Bri?

L’Bri offers a wonderful Quick Start Program for their new Skin Care Consultants.

By holding a minimum of 6 shows per month you can earn extra incentives on top of the regular show earnings.

8 Qualified Shows in 30 days = $4,000 in sales

Winter Skin Tips

October 12, 2009

School has started, the leaves are turning beautiful colors and the air has that cool crisp feeling to it.
We all know what this means – dry skin and chapped lips.

The cooler months do not have to be harsh on your skin; in fact it is the best time to start a nourishing skin care routine.

The skin is actually eager to receive moisture due to the dry conditions. During the warmer, humid months when the skin is busy detoxifying making it less absorbent.

Take advantage of the cold weather to make your skin healthier, more youthful and vibrant looking.

How?

- Continue to use Sun Protection – Use a sunscreen on your face and hands that protects you from both UVA and UVB rays. Snow and windows intensify the rays of the sun. Try to apply 20-30 minutes before sun exposure.

- Avoid hot showers/baths – Hot water may feel great after time in the cold, but water that is too hot strips the skin of lipids. Lipids are part of the skin’s barrier that help hold in moisture.

- Avoid soap or cleansers with detergents – the detergents in these products strip the skin and disrupt the pH balance of the skin leaving it feeling tight and dry.

- Use a humidifier – place a small humidifier in as many rooms of the house as possible, especially the bedroom, to replace the moisture being pulled out of the air. Remember to clean the humidifier on a regular basis to prevent bacteria and fungi from being added to the air along with the moisture.

- Exfoliate – use a gentle exfoliating product to remove dry, dull skin. This will leave your skin soft and smooth.

- Moisturize – use a good quality moisturizer that penetrates the skin to hydrate the skin.  Also you may need to switch moisturizers during the winter months to provide more moisture for your skin.

More Skin Care Ingredients to Avoid

September 14, 2009

In addition to the animal bi-products mentioned in the last post, there are many other ingredients to avoid in skin care products.

Here are more ingredients to beware of if your skin care products contain them.

Mineral Oil: An oil product derived from petroleum (crude oil), a stabilizing ingredient used in many skin care formulas. Mineral oil forms a film on the skin like plastic wrap, blocking the pores and interfering with the normal skin functions of letting in nutrients and expelling toxins.

Petroleum (Petrolatum): An oil product that does not penetrate the skin, but it sits on the surface, again interfering with the normal functions of the skin.

Solvent Alcohol: A colorless, volatile liquid in the form of propyl, isopropyl (petroleum derivatives) or SD 40 alcohol (specially denatured ethyl alcohol). These strip the skin of its protective acid mantle, drying the skin and leaving it unprotected from bacteria.

Soap: This strips the skin’s protective acid mantle. It can take the skin over 24 hours to rejuvenate itself after using soap or solvent alcohol. Soap is also very drying to the skin.

Lanolin: An oily excretion of sheep, a common lubricating ingredient in skin care formulas. Extracted from wool, it can be a cause of allergic reactions in sensitive people.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate: Used in products to create lather. This is a degreasing agent that strips the protective layer from skin and hair.

The cosmetic companies are unconcerned about our health. They know most people will try anything to look younger and prettier without actually learning about the ingredients in these products.

I think it is time that we stand up and learn about what we are putting on our bodies and how it affects our health.

That is why companies like L’Bri Pure n’ Natural are wonderful to find. They care about the ingredients that they use in producing quality products.

Are Your Skin Care Products Unhealthy?

September 11, 2009

Have you ever attempted to read the list of ingredients that are in your skin care products?

Would you like to know what these ingredients are doing to your skin and where they come from?

Are you familiar with rendering plants?

Rendering plants are where bad meat from grocery stores, unusable body parts from animals and used grease from restaurants are sent. It is also where dead animals are sent to; most of these animals have died from disease.

These plants throw all of the above items into large vats to boil, producing a yellow grease like substance.

The cosmetic manufacturers are the largest consumers of the bi-products from these rendering plants.

So what are the cosmetic manufacturers doing with these animal bi-products?

They are making ingredients for their skin care products. Here are some of the ingredients produced and their uses.

Oleic acid: Used in soaps, permanent wave solutions, shampoos, hair dyes, lipsticks, liquid make-ups, nasal sprays

Glycerine: Used in cosmetics, mouthwashes, toothpastes, soaps, ointments

Stearic acid: Used in cosmetics, lubricants, hair spray, conditioners, deodorants

Non-edible tallow: Used in soap

Try skin care products without these dangerous ingredients at L’Bri Pure n’ Natural.
