Sweet Smelling Lotions

What is the first thing you check out when buying lotions? How great it smells, right?

We all want to smell nice – but at what cost to our health?

The majority of fragrances are made from toxic industrial chemicals called phthalates (pronounced thal-ates).

Phthalates are plasticizers, meaning they are generally used in products to make them flexible and durable.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, fragrance is the number-one cause of allergic cosmetic reactions. Exposure to phthalates has also been associated with asthma and upper airway irritation. There’s more -

These nice smelling fragrances may cause obesity, liver and kidney damage.

They also may behave like the hormone estrogen therefore disrupting the body’s endocrine system. Some of the health effects included decreased sperm counts, increased birth defects in male sex organs, and an increased chance of breast cancer.

Lotions are the largest threat to us because we apply them often and over large areas allowing our body to absorb the phthalates.

Avoid lotions with “fragrance” in the ingredient list, this is just a pretty way of saying toxic.

L’Bri Pure n’ Natural used no fragrances in any of their products. Our products smell like the wonderful botanical ingredients that we use.

Have you ever read the list of ingredients in the Skin Care and Make-up products that you are currently using?

And if you have, do they actually mean anything to you?

As consumer’s we have the right to expect companies to provide products that are not going to harm us, our children or the environment.

Unfortunately, in this country money talks louder than our health. So we in turn need to shift our money to products that will not harm us.

Only by doing this will Corporate America take action to create formulations that are safe for us.

I have found several websites that can help you determine what you are putting on your skin.
